According to reports, President-elect Donald Trump has appointed New York Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik as the United States' ambassador to the United Nations.
Trump offered Stefanik the gig late Sunday, officials said. told CNN.
The apparent offer follows earlier reports that President Trump was eyeing the powerful chair of the House Republican Conference.

Stefanik was a vocal advocate of his policies, which reportedly caught the attention of future presidents.
If she leaves the House, a special election will be held within 90 days to fill the upstate vacancy she plans to leave. Given the certainty of the red district she represents, it is likely that she will be replaced by another Republican.
