Trump ‘Often Engaged in Racial Arson’

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, a New York Democrat, said Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union” that former President Donald Trump “frequently engaged in racist arson.”

“I want to hear your reactions to President Trump’s recent comments about Vice President Harris and her race at an event for Black journalists. Listen up,” host Jake Tapper said.

“I didn’t know she was black until a few years ago when she happened to be black, and now she wants to be known as black, so I don’t know,” Trump said at an NAJB event in July.

Tapper asked, “What was your reaction when you heard that?”

Jeffries said, “These are very ignorant comments from the former President, but not surprising given that this is a man who has often engaged in racist arson and sought to incite emotions among the American people in unproductive ways. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are running positive, fun campaigns. The differences between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump are as big as the Grand Canyon. Kamala Harris represents unity, Donald Trump represents division, Kamala Harris represents the future, Donald Trump represents the past. Kamala Harris will build an economy that gets middle class and ordinary Americans going. Donald Trump wants to go back to an economy that is primarily focused on massive tax cuts for the rich, the wealthy and the well-connected.”
