Trump on why powerful people got close to Epstein: 'He was a good salesman'

Former President Trump said in a new interview that he would have “no problem” releasing more files about Jeffrey Epstein if elected.

Trump Podcast Host Rex Friedman asked the former president why he allowed “so many smart, powerful people” to have access to Epstein.

“He was a great salesman. He was a very energetic, kind-hearted type of guy,” Trump said. “He had great assets that were spread all over the place, like an island, and a lot of the big guys went to the island, but luckily I wasn't one of them.”

Trump said he found it “very interesting” that the list of Epstein's associates was being kept secret, but suggested he could revisit the issue if he wins the election in November.

“Of course I'll look into it. The Kennedy case is interesting because it was years ago. They take risks and they do that, too, because it puts certain people at risk. So the Kennedy case is completely different than the Epstein case,” Trump said. “But I'm going to do the Epstein case. I've got no problem with that.”

Epstein died in 2019. He pleaded guilty to separate sexual misconduct charges in 2008 and was arrested again in 2019 on suspicion of leading a sex trafficking ring involving underage girls from 2002 to 2005.

The court unsealed documents in January detailing Epstein's high-profile friends and victims who had spoken out publicly, including President Trump, Prince Andrew and former President Clinton, among other influential figures with long-standing ties to Epstein, but providing little information beyond what was already known.
