Trump opens up largest betting lead since days after Biden dropped out

Former President Trump has a double-digit lead in betting odds against Vice President Kamala Harris for the first time since July, suggesting the former president has potential momentum as Election Day approaches.

Mr. Trump opened a 10-point lead on Sunday's Real Clear Politics betting average, his largest lead over Ms. Harris since July 31, when the former president led by 10 points. This was the largest lead for any candidate.

David Plouffe, who was a senior adviser to President Barack Obama and is currently a senior campaign adviser to Ms. Harris, is among Democratic Party officials after recent polls show him leaning clearly toward President Trump. “I think the reason for this anomaly is that there were a lot of polls in the last month that showed Kamala Harris' lead wasn't real. That's not what we were seeing. “We've seen it tied, I mean…since mid-September, this is our race, this is the race we expected, and I don't think it's going to be an advantage for either candidate,” Plouffe said. he said.

But the betting odds also continue to trend in Mr. Trump's favor, perhaps indicating that the former president's momentum is solid outside of regular polling.

Harris ultimately took the betting lead in the Aug. 8 race, and that lead peaked at 8.8 points a week later. Both candidates have traded the lead numerous times since then, but none enjoyed a lead as large as Mr. Trump's on Sunday.

The last time Ms. Harris led the Real Clear Politics average was on Oct. 5, and Mr. Trump has been steadily gaining momentum in the race, looking to expand her lead to 10 points Sunday.

Trump himself has touted his betting superiority in recent days, telling Fox News' Maria Bartiromo on Sunday that the betting odds were “through the roof” in Trump's favor.

The Real Clear Politics Betting Odds Average tracks seven different platforms that publish odds. Betfair, Betsson, Bovada, Bwin, Points Bet, Polymarket, Smarkets. None of these platforms show Harris leading in the race. Mr. Trump enjoys a 12-point lead in points bets, his largest yet.

Neither the Trump nor Harris campaigns immediately responded to Fox News Digital's requests for comment.
