Former President Donald Trump has expressed his sadness over the passing of wrestling icon Hulk Hogan. The two had a well-documented friendship, with Trump even recalling a memorable moment from the Republican National Convention last year that featured Hogan.

In his tribute, Trump said, “Today we lost our amazing friend, the ‘Hulkster.’ Hulk Hogan was not just a wrestler—he was a symbol of strength, toughness, and had an incredible heart.” He praised Hogan’s impactful speech at the convention, emphasizing the joy he brought to fans worldwide and his significant cultural influence.

Hogan, whose real name was Terry Borea, died at the age of 71 after suffering cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater, Florida. Reports indicated that paramedics were seen transporting him to the hospital.

Details from the Clearwater Police Department revealed that emergency responders arrived shortly after 9:50 AM to a medical call concerning cardiac arrest. Hogan received treatment before being taken to the hospital.

WWE shared their condolences as well, acknowledging Hogan’s place as a Hall of Famer and a major contributor to the company’s global recognition in the 1980s. They expressed sorrow for his family, friends, and fans.

In the weeks leading up to his death, there were rumors about Hogan’s health, although his wife dismissed these claims, asserting that he was recovering from surgery.

Hogan had shown his support for Trump during the previous year’s RNC, famously declaring, “Make Trump Amania great again.” He even had expressed ambitions to be Trump’s running mate prior to Mike Pence’s selection as vice president.

In a personal statement, JD Vance, current vice president, expressed his admiration for Hogan, calling him an iconic figure in American culture and someone he had looked up to during his childhood.
