Trump Changes Stance on Epstein Files
President Donald Trump seems to have shifted his position regarding the Epstein files. He recently told Republican members that he now supports their release, despite earlier indications that he was against it.
In a post on Truth Social, he reiterated his belief that the controversy surrounding the files is a “hoax” designed by Democrats to divert attention from his past victories.
“Don’t fall into the Epstein ‘trap’ and start talking about the record-setting accomplishments of the Republican Party. It’s actually a curse on the Democratic Party, not us.”
He further stated that House Republicans should vote to make the Epstein files public, asserting they have nothing to hide. “It’s time to move on from this Democratic hoax perpetrated by radical left-wing lunatics,” he wrote, referencing what he sees as the GOP’s impressive achievements in recent times.
Trump pointed out that the Justice Department had already released some documents related to Epstein. “The House Oversight Committee can have whatever it is legally entitled to, I don’t care!” he added emphatically.
A vote on releasing the files in the U.S. House of Representatives could occur as soon as Tuesday, spurred by recent developments in Arizona’s parliamentary votes.
Democrats have speculated that Trump’s initial reluctance to release the files might hint at some involvement or knowledge of Epstein’s activities, a claim the president has firmly denied.
In response to these claims, Democratic Senator Adam Schiff expressed concern, noting, “Donald Trump keeps shouting ‘hoax’ when pressed to release Epstein files. But the American people have a right to know what evidence this convicted child sex trafficker had to claim he could ‘bring down’ President Trump.”
The president concluded his remarks by indicating that some Republicans feel exploited in this situation, urging them to focus on their achievements instead. “Let’s avoid falling into the Epstein ‘trap’,” he said, reminding them that the real issues lie within the Democratic Party.
There’s been mention in the past that the files contain names likely to have significant implications for various high-profile individuals if they become public. However, many of these individuals are reportedly taking legal action to prevent such exposure.
