Trump picks Anthony Salisbury as deputy Homeland Security Advisor

President-elect Trump has nominated Anthony Salisbury to be Deputy Homeland Security Advisor on the White House Homeland Security Council.

“Tony brings vast law enforcement, counter-drug and anti-cartel experience to the White House, where he will report to Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy and Homeland Security Advisor Stephen Miller.” said President Trump on Thursday night's Truth Social. post.

Mr. Salisbury currently serves as a special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) in Miami.

“Tony is responsible for national security and counterproliferation, financial crimes, commercial fraud, human trafficking, human smuggling, drug smuggling, transnational gangs, cybercrime, child exploitation, workplace enforcement and document and benefit fraud.” President Trump wrote in the post.

The president-elect wrote that Salisbury “served as acting assistant director (EAD) for the entire ICE/HSI workforce.” Previously, he held key leadership areas and headquarters duties for ICE/HSI. ”

On Thursday, President Trump also announced other nominees and appointees to handle homeland security and immigration issues. He nominated Caleb Vitello to serve as acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and former Border Patrol chief Rodney Scott to serve as director of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
