Former President Trump Scheduled to attend The gathering of Black journalists in Chicago this week is the campaign’s latest effort to secure support from a key demographic: Black voters, heading into November.
Trump will take part in a question-and-answer panel with political journalists attending the National Association of Black Journalists’ (NABJ) Annual Convention and Job Fair, which begins Wednesday, his campaign announced Monday.
The fireside chat, which will be hosted by ABC News’ Rachel Scott, Fox News’ Harris Faulkner and Semaphore’s Kadia Goba, will focus on “the most pressing issues facing the Black community,” according to a press release from NABJ and the Trump campaign.
“We look forward to attendees hearing from former President Trump about the important issues that matter most to our members and audiences,” NABJ President Ken Lemon said in a statement.
“As a journalism organization, NABJ does not endorse political candidates, but we understand the serious work our members do and welcome the opportunity to ask the tough questions that will yield the real answers that Black Americans want and need to know,” Lemon added.
The event will be live-streamed to the public at noon local time, but only open to convention participants.
Vice President Harris, who is considered a possible Democratic candidate, has also been invited to this year’s convention, according to the NABJ, which noted that “Harris’s endorsement is pending.”
The Hill has reached out to the Harris campaign for response.
