Trump planning to lift Biden’s LNG pause, increase oil drilling during 1st days in office: report

President-elect Donald Trump reportedly plans to focus on two policy changes to boost renewable energy production on his first day in office, according to a new report.

As policies for his second term take shape, the president-elect is considering immediate changes to current policies on liquefied natural gas (LNG) permits and oil and gas drilling leases, people familiar with the transition plan told Reuters. Ta.

President Biden began suspending new LNG export licenses in January, a move that has been widely criticized by the oil industry and bipartisan members of Congress. The National Association of Manufacturers conducted a study on the ban and found that nearly 1 million jobs would be threatened by LNG shutdowns over the next 20 years if restrictions remain in place, Fox News Digital previously reported.

However, sources told Reuters that Trump “intends to aggressively address” the LNG export issue once he takes office.

The Republican president-elect plans to lift Biden's moratorium and approve new LNG export permits next year, fulfilling a promise he made frequently during his campaign.

Trump also aims to increase lease sales for coastal drilling, speed up permit approvals and expand drilling on federal lands, the newspaper reported.

The latest report comes as some of Biden's efforts focused on climate change appear to be in jeopardy under the incoming Trump administration.

Mr. Trump has been talking for months about plans to roll back Mr. Biden's environmental policies, including tax credits for purchasing electric vehicles. He also plans to withdraw from the Paris climate accord for a second time, expand hydraulic fracturing and revive the Keystone XL pipeline, which was canceled on Biden's first day in office.
