Trump to Declassify UFO Files

On Thursday, President Trump revealed his plans to declassify government documents related to extraterrestrial life and unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs).

He indicated that he would instruct Pentagon leaders and intelligence officials to locate and release materials concerning aliens, UFOs, and related subjects. Trump specifically mentioned that Secretary of the Army Pete Hegseth would spearhead this initiative, coordinating with other relevant departments.

Trump stated, “I will direct the Secretary of the Army and other relevant departments to begin the process of identifying and releasing government files related to aliens, extraterrestrials, unidentified aerial phenomena (UAPs), and unidentified flying objects (UFOs). And all the other information related to these very complex but very interesting and important issues.” He added, “God bless America!”

In January 2026, Republican Congressman Eric Burlison from Missouri mentioned that lawmakers are set to pursue greater transparency regarding UAPs and stronger protections for whistleblowers. He expressed a desire to obtain tangible evidence, saying, “I’ll remain skeptical until then, but I’m going to do some serious research on my own.”

In November 2023, former military and intelligence personnel cautioned that failing to proactively declassify UFO-related data could lead to severe risks and leaks. Lawmakers showed bipartisan support for the disclosure of UAP information during discussions on the National Defense Authorization Act.

In December 2020, the Navy captured footage of a triangular object rising from the ocean by a U.S. warship, but officials acknowledged their inability to identify it. A Department of Defense assessment reviewed over 140 military encounters with UAPs, concluding that many cases remain unexplained and warrant further examination.
