Trump praises Paxton for significant Texas runoff win

Trump Congratulates Ken Paxton on Senate Primary Win

President Donald Trump congratulated Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton following his success in the Senate runoff elections. Trump also expressed appreciation for Sen. John Cornyn, highlighting their friendship.

On the morning after the election, Trump took to Truth Social to share his thoughts on the Republican runoffs.

“I want to congratulate Ken Paxton on such a great victory, and congratulations to John Cornyn for running such a strong, powerful race, but more importantly, for having a truly remarkable career,” Trump stated. “John will always be my friend as we both watch Ken become a wonderful, common-sense senator respected by all.”

Paxton secured the Republican nomination with over 63% of the votes, while Cornyn received 36%.

Last week, Trump endorsed Paxton, claiming he is an “America First Patriot” and a loyal supporter of the MAGA movement.

After the Republican runoff, Trump took a dig at Paxton’s Democratic opponent, pastor James Talarico, criticizing his left-wing gender ideology. He compared Talarico to Alfred E. Neuman from Mad Magazine and mentioned Talarico’s previous support for mask-wearing during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Trump remarked, “My opponent, Alfred E. Neuman, may be the worst Texas candidate I’ve ever seen. He’s a strong supporter of open borders, he’s soft on crime, he believes there are six genders, he despises Jesus Christ, he never supports the military, he’s a big mask wearer until recently, and he’s a vegan who hates meat. Not a good way to go if you want to win an election in Texas.”

He also alluded to incumbent Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), who lost to Talarico in the Democratic primary earlier this year.

Trump stated, “Jasmine Crockett, who has a very low IQ and has no connection to the legendary pioneer Davy Crockett, would have been a much better choice for the Democrats.”

In closing, Trump promised to campaign for Paxton in the upcoming general election set for November.

He added, “I’m going to have some great, big, beautiful rallies for Ken. Texas, this is fun!”

During his victory speech on Tuesday night, Paxton expressed gratitude to Trump for his support.

“When everyone in Washington told him to abandon me and the people of Texas, he didn’t listen. Instead, he gave his full and complete support. President Trump is the leader of our party, and his support is the most powerful force in politics,” Paxton said.

Trump later shared on Truth Social that his support had a significant influence, noting that 118 candidates he backed received nominations in various races, including Senate and gubernatorial contests. This, he implies, showcases his persistent influence in the Republican Party.
