Trump praises Stefanik as ‘SMART, STRONG, and TOUGH’ in endorsement

Former President Trump on Friday gave an enthusiastic endorsement of New York Rep. Elise Stefanik ahead of the New York state primary, calling her “smart, strong and tough.”

Stefanik, the Republican Conference chairwoman, has steadily climbed the ranks of the GOP for years, but her popularity has skyrocketed since she grilled college presidents about anti-Semitism on their campuses at a confirmation hearing last year, leading to speculation that she might join Trump in this fall’s presidential race.
