F-15E Crew Member Rescued in Iran

A crew member from an American F-15E was rescued in Iran on Sunday, equipped with a “very sophisticated” buzzer-like device that played a key role in his safety, as disclosed by President Trump on Monday.

The injured Air Force weapons systems officer managed to evade capture on the ground for almost two days before being safely retrieved from Iranian territory in a bold rescue operation. This success was largely due to the specialized equipment that allowed U.S. military forces to pinpoint his location.

According to Trump, “He climbed up the cliff, bleeding quite profusely, treated his wounds, and contacted the U.S. military to tell them where he was.” He further detailed that the military personnel “always have very sophisticated buzzer-type devices.”

Continuing on this theme, Trump mentioned how crucial it is for these devices to work properly during missions, insisting that there’s always thorough checking for enough battery life and condition.

He noted that the aviator’s beeper was “working really well… amazingly” and “saved lives.” This device has been referred to as a rescue beacon, which is standard gear for all U.S. Air Force personnel.

The beacons send out encrypted distress signals that can be detected by aircraft and satellites, with automatic activation occurring when a pilot ejects from the plane. They essentially function like a walkie-talkie, transmitting encrypted coordinates to rescuers and transforming into a radio as they approach.

In total, the U.S. military deployed 155 aircraft for the rescue mission, which included four bombers, 64 fighters, 48 tankers, and 13 rescue planes.

On another note, CIA Director John Ratcliffe shared that a “deception operation” was employed to mislead Iranian forces, buying critical time for the airmen and rescue teams. Despite attempts by Iran, including the use of sniffer dogs to track the downed airmen, U.S. military officials emphasized the bravery of their personnel in overcoming these challenges.

Ratcliffe commented that the success of this operation left Iran feeling embarrassed and humiliated.
