Trump projected winner in Georgia

After losing the state by a narrow margin four years ago, former President Trump won Georgia, a project of the Decision Desk headquarters, returning a key battleground to his campaign.

Georgia is one of the most valuable battleground states with 16 electoral votes, and both candidates spent the final stages of their campaigns there. Opinion polls showed that the race remained close until election day.

The former president ended a long-simmering feud with Republican Gov. Brian Kemp over the summer, seeing Kemp's political maneuvering as potentially crucial to winning the state in November. It made Republicans happy.

Trump easily won Georgia in 2016, but President Biden won Georgia by less than 12,000 votes in 2020. This is the first time a Democrat has won Georgia since 1992.

Georgia has been at the center of a fight over election integrity since 2020, when President Trump sought to overturn the state's election results and made baseless claims of widespread fraud. He was charged in 2023 with trying to overturn the results, but a judge dropped several charges.
