Trump Responds to Biden’s Autopen Investigation Remarks

On June 5, 2025, former President Donald Trump expressed his views regarding the situation during Biden’s administration, particularly commenting that Biden’s statements had effectively ended the inquiry into the autopen issue.

During a discussion, German Prime Minister Friedrich Merz conveyed to Trump that the U.S. is in a robust position to potentially put an end to the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine. Merz noted that the timing—the eve of the D-Day anniversary—was particularly poignant.

“The United States is well-placed to take action and conclude this war,” Merz stated, emphasizing collaboration with European allies to increase pressure on Russia.

In response, Trump gave an analogy comparing the conflict to two children fighting. “You know how, sometimes, kids just don’t want to be separated, even if they’re getting too rough?” he said. “Sometimes, you have to let them go at it for a bit.” This metaphor underscored his belief that some conflicts require a period of struggle to reach resolution.

Trump mentioned that he shared this perspective with Russian President Vladimir Putin, suggesting that maybe they both needed to endure some hardships before finding a way forward.

Further, when asked about the war, Merz reiterated his support for Ukraine and emphasized the urgency in finding solutions. He mentioned the importance of collaboration between Europe and the U.S. to effectively address the crisis. “We agree that this war is tragic and need to act quickly,” he said, alluding to the role the U.S. plays in influencing Russian actions.

While acknowledging the complexities of the situation, Merz pointed out that their goals align in wanting to empower Ukraine to resist and ultimately halt the fighting. “We’re all aiming to strengthen them as much as we can,” he noted, reflecting a sense of shared responsibility among world leaders. It’s a tough situation, no doubt, but the desire to find a resolution seems to be a common thread in their discussions.
