Trump pulls back his support for Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene

Trump Withdraws Support for Greene

On Friday night, President Donald Trump took to Truth Social to announce he is withdrawing his support for U.S. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, labeling her an “abusing lunatic” and accusing the Georgia Republican of merely “complaining” rather than appreciating what he described as his administration’s “record accomplishments.”

In a lengthy post, Trump claimed Greene has expressed her frustration about him not returning her calls, stating she has been telling people this. Furthermore, she declared her “full and unwavering support” for her expected conservative primary challenger in the 2026 midterm elections.

Referencing Greene’s recent appearance on The View, Trump accused her of “going to the far left” and even gave her a new nickname, “Wacky Marjorie.”

Greene has stood firmly by Trump since entering Congress in 2021, supporting him during multiple impeachment attempts and campaigning alongside him across Republican strongholds.

In his remarks, Trump mentioned a poll he sent Greene, advising against her running for either state senator or governor, claiming her approval rating was only 12%. He suggested that she would need his support to have a chance—support he says she won’t receive.

Trump continued, stating that Greene has told “a lot of people” she is upset with him for not answering her calls anymore, but he pointed out that there are many congress members, senators, and cabinet members who lead busy lives and can’t engage with her daily rants.

Greene quickly took to social media to respond, claiming, “President Trump attacked me and lied about me.” She mentioned sending text messages to Trump, countering his claims. Greene alleged that Trump’s reaction is aimed at intimidating other Republicans ahead of a vote to release the Epstein files.

Addressing the fallout, Greene noted that she has dedicated considerable time and personal resources to support Trump, even when many Republicans distanced themselves from him. However, she asserted her refusal to “worship or serve Donald Trump,” stating instead that her allegiance lies with God and her constituents in Georgia.

Following his commentary on the administration’s achievements, Trump quipped about the transformation of the country over the past year, implying that Greene’s complaints overshadowed the positive developments he’s touting.

This development could open the door for the Georgia Republican Party to challenge Greene in upcoming elections. The White House has yet to respond to requests for comments regarding this situation.
