Trump rails against Fani Willis after she admits relationship with prosecutor

Former President Trump criticized Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who publicly admitted to having an affair with the top prosecutor in Trump’s Georgia criminal case.

“Fulton County Attorney Fannie Willis has admitted, in consultation with the White House and Department of Justice, that she had a sexual relationship with the prosecutor she appointed to “get President Donald J. Trump.” he posted.

“By going after the highest-ranking figures and Republican candidates, she was able to obtain far more money from her ‘lovers’, nearly $1 million, than she could have obtained by prosecuting any other person or individual.” did it. ” Trump’s post continued. “That means this scam is completely discredited and is over!”

In a court filing Friday, Willis acknowledged that he had a “personal relationship” with special prosecutor Nathan Wade, but said that was no reason to withdraw from the case.

Willis was accused last month by Trump co-defendant Michael Roman of having a romantic relationship with Wade. Roman argued that this relationship made the entire indictment “fatally flawed.”

Prosecutors responded to the swirling allegations, saying the motion was aimed at getting media attention and defending Wade and his legal abilities.

Wade said in his affidavit that he and Willis were no more than friends at the time of his 2021 hire. The two reportedly started a personal relationship in 2022.

Roman and Trump are asking that the charges against them be dropped and that the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office, along with Willis and Wade, be barred from working on the case.

The relationship is the latest development in the prosecution of the former president, who faces four criminal charges for as long as he was on the campaign trail. Trump is not yet the Republican nominee for the 2024 presidential election, but with fellow Republican candidate Nikki Haley out of the fray, it seems increasingly likely that he will win the nomination a third time.
