The Bronx may be a heavily Democratic area in a heavily Democratic state, but Trump supporters still came out to support the former president.
Former Democratic Gov. David Paterson also took notice, calling Trump’s Bronx rally a “wake-up call” for Biden because he expected about 3,500 people to attend but the rally drew between 8,000 and 10,000 supporters.
One of the protesters, a black woman, was captured on camera saying, “We absolutely have to take our country back.”
She also noted the “diverse group of people” and said what unites them all is “love for their country.”
“They’re really passionate people,” laughed Pat Gray after watching more footage of Bronx supporters.
Another supporter, a young man, told reporters, “Joe Biden’s policies have failed.”
“We’re failing the economy, we’re failing illegal immigration, we’re failing the environment,” he said, adding, “These policies only hurt black people. They don’t help black people.”
Gray was impressed and said, “Something is happening. It’s amazing.”
“It’s not like 80% of blacks and Hispanics are going to vote for Donald Trump, but the polls that have been done show that his approval rating has at least doubled – from 9% to now about 18%,” Gray said.
“The percentage of black people who support Trump right now is 23 percent, which is something that hasn’t been heard in a really long time,” he added.
