Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) said former President Trump is rallying in the Bronx this week because of “a legal version of the ankle bracelet.”
Ocasio-Cortez on Tuesday criticized President Trump’s planned event in the Bronx for Thursday. The Bronx is where the New York Democrat was born and where he now represents part of Congress. President Trump has been in New York for more than a month because of his hush money trial, which has been going on for about six weeks.

The former president is charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records in connection with reimbursing former fixer Michael Cohen for paying porn actor Stormy Daniels to keep quiet about her alleged affair with Trump. has been done. Trump will need to be in court for the trial. Court sessions are typically held on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays during most weeks of the trial, and Trump’s travel is restricted while he is campaigning. He is not bound by court rules that require him to remain in New York City.
He has frequently criticized his inability to campaign while confined to a Manhattan courtroom, forcing him to campaign on court holidays. Many Republicans and allies of the former president gathered in New York to show support for Trump during the trial, echoing Trump’s typical attacks on the case, the judge and the Manhattan district attorney.
New York City is where Trump grew up and eventually built his business brand and reputation, but he has since attacked the city over the Democratic Party leadership and the criminal hush money lawsuit filed against him.
