Trump Arrives in Davos for World Economic Forum
Marine One landed in the Swiss ski resort of Davos on Wednesday afternoon, bringing US President Donald Trump to the annual World Economic Forum meeting, with Greenland taking a prominent role this year.
Although President Trump arrived just in time for his keynote address on Wednesday, a “minor electrical issue” with Air Force One caused a delay. The plane had to return overnight, leading to a transfer to a backup jet. This second flight touched down at Zurich International Airport around noon local time (0740 ET), after which the president was whisked away on Marine One to the mountains.
Despite the flight hiccup, Trump is still set to deliver his speech in Davos at about 8:30 a.m. ET.
The electrical problem with the Boeing 747, the older model of the presidential aircraft, surely fuels Trump’s argument for a replacement, as he’s been vocal about its need for an upgrade.
As Trump engages in Davos—a significant event on the globalist calendar, attracting world leaders—there’s growing tension surrounding the U.S. government’s escalating rhetoric about acquiring Greenland for national security. Recent communications from European leaders to Trump suggest a desire to align with him, although that optimism has been tempered by ongoing criticisms from European nations regarding their own issues.
In comments made today, Trump remarked that while France under Emmanuel Macron and the UK under Keir Starmer have the potential to be “good” countries, they currently face significant challenges with immigration and energy. “They have to correct the situation in their country,” he stated.
