Trump reaches out to Scottie Scheffler after the golfer's victories

Scotty Schaeffler Awaits a Special Message

Scotty Schaeffler, currently the top golfer in the world, shared his experience of receiving texts from former President Donald Trump following his victories.

“I sometimes get calls and texts from him after we win,” Schaeffler remarked. “The president is a bit unusual. He really loves golf.”

This week, Trump is expected to attend the Ryder Cup at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York, where he’ll witness Schaeffler and Team USA competing against Team Europe in this prestigious international event.

Earlier this year, Trump energized Team USA with an encouraging call during the NHL’s Four Nations Cup, but Schaeffler wasn’t quite certain that Captain Keegan Bradley’s team would receive the same kind of acknowledgment.

“When he’s around, he has a knack for boosting everyone’s confidence. However, I don’t think he plans on addressing us as a group,” Schaeffler commented.

This year, Schaeffler has scored six PGA victories, including the PGA Championship and the British Open. He’s part of a team that includes golfers like Bryson DeChambeau, Xander Schauffele, and Justin Thomas, among others.

Trump’s passion for golf is well-known, and he has forged connections with many players while participating in golf-related activities, like last year’s popular “Break 50” web series.

Reflecting on his interactions with Trump, Schaeffler noted, “One thing I observed during our limited time together is how he treats everyone equally and with great respect. Whether it’s the person serving lunch, a caddy, or the club president, he makes everyone feel valued.”
