Trump Reacts to Ryder Cup Celebration by Rory McIlroy and Team Europe

President Trump playfully engaged with Rory McIlroy and his European teammates after they claimed the Ryder Cup victory, the first for Europe on American soil since 2012.

After their win, McIlroy and his fellow players jovially taunted, “Are you watching? Are you watching? Are you watching? Donald Trump?” while holding the trophy aloft.

Trump, a keen golfer, responded to their light-hearted jest by sharing a video on a social media platform, I believe it’s called Truth Social. In his post, he wrote, “Yes, I’m watching. Congratulations!”

He had arrived at Farmingdale Golf Club that Friday afternoon with his granddaughter, Kai Trump.

Despite his presence, the U.S. team fell short in the face of Europe’s strong performance. They managed just one win in 11 singles matches on Sunday, losing the overall contest 15-13 after failing to recover from a significant seven-point deficit over the initial two days.

Facing a historic loss, the U.S. rallied to secure 5½ points in the first seven games, setting a new singles match record that Sunday.

Rory McIlroy, ranked No. 2 in the world, faced heckling during a previous match, which led to some tension with American fans. This animosity was palpable throughout the tournament, particularly as McIlroy confronted spectators, stating he wouldn’t proceed until they quieted down.

Security measures were heightened during his matches, and messages addressing fan behavior were displayed around the course. McIlroy expressed his frustration with the crowd’s actions, emphasizing that golf should exemplify better standards of etiquette and respect.

“Golf should unite people,” he remarked. “It teaches values, good manners, and how to respect the game.”
