Former President Donald Trump told House Republicans that it was “not the right time” to expel Speaker Mike Johnson and called on them not to vote yes on Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.). .
The House on Wednesday rejected a vote by Greene and Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) to step down as speaker.
Greene appeared to surprise most parliamentary watchers when she tried to force a vote on a motion to vacate the Speaker that was supposed to be allowed for a vote.
She has also been seen in the past promoting her support for Trump and wearing a MAGA hat, but the former president called on Republicans to file a motion.
President Trump said: “I love Marjorie Taylor Greene with all my heart. She has spirit, she has fight, and I know she will always be by our side and by our side.” ” he posted on Truth Social. “But now the Republicans have to fight the radical left Democrats and all the damage they have done to our country. “However, any display of discord that would be portrayed as chaos would be detrimental to everything,” he wrote. “Mike Johnson is a very good guy and he’s trying very hard. I too would have liked some things to get done in the last two months, but we’ll get through it together. ”
President Trump added, “I ask all Republicans to vote for the Motion to the Table. We will win big, and it will happen soon!”
Johnson received overwhelming support from Democrats and Republicans in a table vote, passing 359-43, avoiding a vote on her motion. Only 11 Republicans and 32 Democrats voted against the bill.

On the Republican side, Johnson received the support of 196 senators, but 163 Democrats also voted to defend him.
When her motion was defeated, cheers erupted from the House Republican side of the chamber.
Since late March, Ms Greene has threatened to take up the gavel and force a vote to protest Mr Johnson’s handling of government funds and foreign aid.

His resolution, known as a motion to vacate the chair, must be put to a vote or tabled after Mr Green noted on Wednesday night that it was a “privilege”. That means House leaders have two days to take up the proposal in Congress.
