Trump receives dismal ratings in NYT poll

President Trump has received a full approval rating Latest polls Another indicator from the New York Times/Siena College that the president is facing a decline in public trust almost 100 days after his second term.

The results released Friday show Trump with a 42% approval rating, but 54% have disapproved his job performance and put 12 points underwater with net approval.

Trump’s approval rating in the poll is just 29% of independents, and he has shown harsh resistance to many of his policies, along with Democrats who are more opposed than Republicans who overwhelmingly support his administration.

Meanwhile, less than a third of independents say Trump understands the problems of people like them, with over 60% thinking Trump is beyond the power he has been given.

Trump’s approval rating is much lower than evaluation Nearly 100 days of administration for other recent presidents. This comparison is less severe than the ratings of former President Obama, George W. Bush and Clinton, although not the first term, compared to 100 days in the second term of the president. Trump’s rating is comparable to the same points in his first term.

Trump has a net negative approval rating on a wide range of issues voters have asked respondents, including immigration and the economy. These are two issues that have been consistently considered his strength since the beginning of his first term.

A small majority, 51%, disapproved of his handling of immigrants. He is underwater by managing the federal government eight points, 11 points and 12 points of the economy.

Trump’s worst issue investigated was the handling of the war between Russia and Ukraine, with 35% approved of his performance and 31% approved of the case involving Kilmer Abrego Garcia, an immigrant who was mistakenly sent to a prison in El Salvador, with 31% approved of the handling of the case.

Democrats are trying to go after the Trump administration, particularly in the case of Abrego Garcia, with several members of Congress pushing for his release to travel to El Salvador, but administration officials are rebellious and defending his removal.

The results are consistent with what other pollers found recently in Trump’s approval ratings.

The average Trump’s approval and positive rating on the Decision Desk HQ/The Hill tracker shows the figures have been gradually etched since taking office in January.

Friday Average show Trump’s approval rate is 45.1% and disapproval rating is 51.8%.

Trump has struggled for weeks to lower economic approval rates, but the Times’ views on how he handles immigrants are relatively similar to what they were a year ago. But while a majority support Trump’s massive demand for deportation, the majority overall opposes handling of the issue.

Polls also showed resistance to Trump’s widespread use of tariffs, with 55% opposing, including 63% of independents. Almost 70% say the country is primarily benefiting from trade and foreign alliances, while 24% say it is mostly hurt.

Pollers said 54%, including 63% of independents, have said that 54% have gone too far into the political and economic system, while half say the sudden change is “bad.” Just a third said it was good.

The poll also showed Democrats the reasons for their hope, and they led the general Congressional vote by 3 points, 47% to 44%. That question has generally been viewed as an indicator of how parties will perform in the upcoming parliamentary elections.

The vote took place between 913 registered voters April 21-24. The margin for error was 3.8 points.
