Trump Receives First FIFA Peace Prize at World Cup Draw

FIFA Peace Prize Awarded to Trump

WASHINGTON – On Friday, FIFA President Gianni Infantino presented the inaugural FIFA Peace Prize to President Donald Trump, recognizing his initiatives aimed at resolving global conflicts, particularly highlighting the recent peace agreement in the Middle East.

Infantino shared the news at the Kennedy Center, coinciding with the 2026 World Cup draw, and invited Trump to join him on stage. “Mr. President, this is your prize. This is your Peace Prize. There’s also a beautiful medal that you can wear wherever you go,” Infantino stated.

Trump promptly donned the medal while Infantino read a certificate explaining why Trump was honored as the first recipient. The FIFA Peace Prize is meant to acknowledge remarkable leaders who demonstrate steadfast commitment to fostering peace and unity for football fans globally. Infantino noted that this prize is awarded to “Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, for exceptional and extraordinary actions to promote peace and unity.”

The President expressed his gratitude, calling the award “truly one of the great honors of my life.” He added, “Beyond the award…we saved millions of lives.” Trump elaborated on the conflicts he has mediated, such as the Washington Accords established just the day prior between Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, as well as a ceasefire agreement reached between India and Pakistan.

“We were able to end so many different wars, in some cases shortly before they started… But we were able to end them. It’s a great honor to be with Gianni,” Trump noted. He also thanked First Lady Melania Trump and her family for their support.

He acknowledged Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum, saying, “We have worked closely with both countries, and the coordination, friendship, and relationship has been great. And I would like to thank both countries very much.” Trump concluded with a reassurance, “But most importantly, I just want to thank you all. The world is a safer place,” emphasizing the significant peace efforts he has facilitated.

In addition to the Rwanda-Congo agreement and the India-Pakistan ceasefire, Trump mentioned his contributions to a historic Middle East peace agreement and efforts that have led to resolutions or ceasefires involving Egypt and Ethiopia, Israel and Iran, Cambodia and Thailand, and Armenia and Azerbaijan. He reportedly played a role in preventing further escalation between Serbia and Kosovo as well.
