Reactions Emerge Following Iranian Strike
President Donald Trump’s recent decision to authorize a military attack against Iran has drawn sharp criticism from a number of celebrities. Following the offensive, which resulted in significant casualties including high-ranking officials of the Iranian regime, many voices in Hollywood expressed their disapproval.
Actress Carrie Coon, known for her role in “Gilded Age,” took to social media to comment on the irony of renaming the War Department, posting, “‘War Department’. They weren’t kidding about it.” Other notable critics included John Cusack, Rosie O’Donnell, Mark Ruffalo, Jack White, and Jane Fonda, each voicing concerns over Trump’s military actions.
Cusack tweeted about the decision, suggesting it was a distraction from other pressing issues, claiming, “Trump starts a dog war to divert attention from Epstein and do Netenyahu’s bidding.” O’Donnell used the hashtag #impeachtrump, taking aim at claims made during Trump’s 2024 campaign and questioned his sincerity regarding peace.
Jane Fonda, at a protest in Los Angeles, equated the current situation with the Vietnam War. She criticized the military actions, asserting they violate international law and risk escalating into a broader conflict that could result in significant loss of life. “This dangerous and insane war against Iran… risks escalating into a major, major war,” she stated.
In contrast, some voices supported Trump’s actions. James Woods shared the President’s commitment regarding Iran’s nuclear ambitions, labeling it a “Promise kept.” Dean Cain referenced former Vice President Harris’s backlash and added his approval to the current situation. Even Elon Musk seemed to endorse the military strike, remarking, “Another one bites the dust” in response to the reported death of an Iranian leader.
Meanwhile, Roseanne Barr made headlines for her comments mocking those against regime change in Iran, suggesting that opposition stemmed from a lack of understanding about women’s rights in the region.
