Trump receives unexpected commendation from House Democrat: ‘I have to acknowledge him for that’

Trump’s Foreign Policy Gains Unexpected Praise from Democrats

While President Donald Trump may not be fully tuned in to criticism from the left, even some Democrats in Connecticut are acknowledging that there’s merit in his foreign policy approach.

Recently, Trump engaged with foreign leaders in the Middle East, meeting with Syrian President Ahmed Alshara, Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. He also announced plans to lift sanctions on Syria and aims to advocate for peace negotiations.

“Himes has expressed some optimism about the developments in the Middle East over the past week,” a notable sentiment amid the ongoing political divide.

Trump’s approach to international relations has received commendation from several Republican allies, but, intriguingly, some Democrats have also voiced support.

“It’s not typical for me to commend Donald Trump,” Representative Jim Himes stated during an interview last Thursday. “Still, I must say… I believe he managed the Middle Eastern situation quite effectively last week.”

Himes opened the week with concerns about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s handling of the situation regarding Iran, expressing doubt about Trump’s negotiations with new Syrian leaders. However, he has since shared a more optimistic view about recent diplomatic interactions.

“I suspect that the Israeli Prime Minister is reassessing his stance on Iran,” Himes remarked, further hinting at a potential shift in strategy for Gaza. “Once again, it’s unusual for me to praise this president, yet I feel it’s warranted this time.”
