US rescues missing aviator deep in Iran
President Donald Trump referred to the operation that rescued a missing U.S. airman from a downed F-15E in Iran as an “Easter miracle,” following a successful mission that recovered a second crew member after a risky operation behind enemy lines.
In a statement, Trump commented, “The rescue was an Easter miracle. The enemy was formidable and violent. Our rescuers displayed incredible strength and calm.” He noted that such rescues are rarely attempted in violent enemy territories due to the immense risks involved.
The operation came about after the F-15 was downed, prompting a multi-day search inside Iran. American forces first recovered one crew member and soon located another in a mountainous area heavily patrolled by Iranian troops.

In announcing the recovery, Trump described the effort as one of the most daring in U.S. military history and shared updates about the airmen’s conditions.
“In the last few hours, our military executed one of the most audacious search-and-rescue missions in American history. One airman is injured, but he will be okay,” Trump stated. “We rescued a seriously injured and truly brave crew member from deep within the mountains of Iran, where Iranian forces were closing in.”
He emphasized that such missions are uncommon due to the considerable danger they pose to personnel and equipment. Trump mentioned that the earlier recovery operation was not disclosed to safeguard the subsequent rescue effort, hinting at careful coordination during multiple high-risk missions.
“This miraculous rescue operation follows the successful retrieval of another brave pilot the previous day, which we kept quiet to not jeopardize the second mission,” he added.
Trump underscored the significance of the dual rescues, claiming the U.S. has achieved something unprecedented in modern military operations.
“This marks a pivotal moment in military history as it is the first time two U.S. pilots were rescued separately from deep within enemy territory,” he remarked. He portrayed the mission as a testament to U.S. military prowess, highlighting low casualties and tactical superiority.
“The successful execution of these operations, without American casualties, showcases our overwhelming air dominance and edge over Iran,” Trump concluded.
He also called for unity in response to the successful operation, suggesting that such events should bring Americans together, regardless of political affiliations. “This is a moment for Republicans, Democrats, and all Americans to unite in pride. We indeed have the best, most professional, and effective military in history.”
