Another non-governmental organization that has contracted with the federal government to resettle refugees across the U.S. community must close its doors after President Donald Trump freezes the government's refugee resettlement program.
Soon after taking office, Trump signed an executive order to suspend the resettlement program for refugees indefinitely. This has put the hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars flowing to NGOs contracting to resettle refugees will be suspended.
As a result, Connecticut-based Integrated Refugee and Immigration Services (IRIS) lost a $4 million taxpayer fund to resettle the executive order, but it must close its doors and fire its staff. According to To NPR:
