Trump Addresses Election Security Concerns

On July 16, 2026, President Donald Trump addressed the nation during a prime-time broadcast, emphasizing the importance of election security. He stated that a lack of trust undermines the greatness of the United States, arguing that confidence in elections is crucial for the nation’s future.

During his speech, he announced the declassification of “critical intelligence” documents that purportedly expose significant vulnerabilities in U.S. elections.

“America is back and doing really well, but we still have a major challenge that must be urgently addressed, because no country can be great without fair and honest elections,” Trump expressed, continuing, “You have to trust your country, because if there can be no trust, there can be no greatness. And that’s very simple. No trust, no greatness.”

He claimed that China had acquired over 220 million U.S. voter records, allegedly to influence the 2020 election, and criticized U.S. intelligence officials for failing to inform him, Congress, or the public about these activities concerning voter registration data in 18 states.

“Those responsible for sounding the alarm instead kept the information secret and hidden,” Trump declared. “They did not disclose it to me as president or to anyone else.”

Trump referred to recently revealed documents, citing a CIA report that suggested the Chinese Communist Party aimed to hinder his reelection, as well as FBI intelligence indicating attempts to produce illegal ballots in favor of Joe Biden.

He also expressed concerns over electronic voting machines, labeling them as “vulnerable.”

“Hundreds of millions of U.S. voter files are in the hands of foreign governments. Our machines and ballot counting systems are exposed to hacking and manipulation and corruption… Evidence of fraud has been buried,” he stated.

“The third set of documents we are releasing proves that for many years, Americans were blatantly lied to about the security of our election infrastructure, including electronic voting machines and ballot counting systems,” Trump continued. “They’re vulnerable and they’re easily compromised, and people within our government knew that.”

Moreover, Trump announced that he had directed FBI Director Kash Patel to revisit an investigation into a Michigan voter registration initiative, where canvassers allegedly confessed to submitting fraudulent registrations for non-existent voters and received gift cards based on their submissions.

He further claimed that a review by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had uncovered around 278,000 illegal aliens registered to vote in federal elections. In response to this finding, he promised that his administration would work to remove these individuals from voter rolls.

“To reveal just how vulnerable our elections continue to be, we are releasing the results of a stunning investigation by DHS,” Trump remarked, noting the identification of non-citizens on voter rolls.

Trump reiterated the need for Congress to pass the SAVE America Act to strengthen federal election regulations before the upcoming midterm elections.

“Most importantly, addressing this crisis of election security demands that Congress must pass the SAVE America Act,” he insisted. “These reforms are urgently needed to stop the vulnerabilities that I’ve mentioned.”
