Trump Requests FBI to Look into 'Major Evidence of Fraud' in Michigan's 2020 Election

Trump Calls for DOJ Investigation into Michigan Voter Fraud Allegations

Former President Donald Trump urged the Department of Justice to probe claims of voter fraud in Michigan during the 2020 election. He revealed in a speech Thursday evening that the FBI had identified criminal activity, which he claims was suppressed by the Biden administration.

In his address, Trump emphasized election integrity, advocating for new elections and for Congress to pass the SAVE America Act. The White House also released several declassified documents during this time, indicating that the FBI was aware of alleged attempts to sway the election outcome between him and Joe Biden.

Trump stated that these documents “prove” that the public has been “blatantly deceived” regarding the security of election systems, particularly electronic voting machines and vote-counting processes. He expressed concerns that these systems were “vulnerable” and susceptible to compromise, asserting that foreign adversaries—including Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea—might have been able to interfere with U.S. elections.

According to some of the recently released documents, Michigan State Police uncovered evidence of fraud linked to a large Democratic voter mobilization effort. This situation is currently under investigation by the FBI, although it’s unclear who might face charges.

“Even when substantial evidence of wrongdoing surfaced, it was systematically covered up,” Trump pointed out. He noted that the revelations include FBI records detailing claims of fraud associated with a large voter registration initiative in Michigan. In 2020, Michigan State Police conducted a raid on a group linked to the Democratic Party, raising alarms about what they found.

He added, “They were genuinely worried and actually got in touch with the FBI in Detroit, which is quite something.” Newly available files indicate that some individuals involved in the elections admitted to signing voter registration forms for others, submitting false registrations, and being compensated—often with gift cards—based on how many applications they processed.

“In essence, it became a pay-to-play scheme,” Trump remarked, asserting that FBI agents believed a crime had indeed been committed, yet the Biden administration stalled the investigation and dismissed it.

He urged the FBI Director to ensure a thorough investigation and work closely with the DOJ to hold the offenders accountable.

Michigan State Police initially announced in October 2020 that they were looking into “voter registration form irregularities” in Muskegon.

In response to Trump’s speech, Curtis Hertel, chairman of the Michigan Democratic Party, criticized him on social media, quipping he preferred the speech’s setting, which he likened to an inappropriate place. Later, he released a public statement branding Trump’s allegations as a “reckless and baseless conspiracy theory.”

Hertel also noted that Michigan Republicans seemed to be rallying in support of Trump’s attempts to undermine election integrity while Democrats stood firm in their commitment to protect the electoral process.

As of now, the FBI has not commented on Trump’s call to refocus attention on Michigan’s election integrity issues.
