Former President Donald Trump’s legal team filed a motion Friday seeking to remove Acting Judge Juan Melchan, citing “actual disputes” and allegations of “unacceptable misconduct.” new york times report.

At the time of his initial request to withdraw, Trump was not yet the Republican nominee. His team claimed that additional evidence of a conflict of interest has since surfaced.
Trump’s success in the 2024 presidential primary “has solidified his status as a political target for Mr. Authentic and Mr. Marchand and their clients,” the filing said.
“While that appears to be consistent with the company’s political views, the more important consideration for the purposes of this motion is that Authentic has reputational benefits and more profits by targeting President Trump.” It’s about getting it,” he added.
