Trump Responds Sharply to NYT Reporter Over War Crimes Inquiry

Trump Criticizes NY Times Reporter Over Iran Comments

On Monday, President Donald Trump expressed strong disapproval of a New York Times reporter, labeling the publication as “failed” and “unreliable.”

Zoran Canno-Youngs, the White House correspondent for the Times, inquired if Trump was worried about potentially committing a war crime by threatening to bomb Iran’s nuclear plants. Trump dismissed the question, mocking its importance and stating he had no concerns regarding any violations of war crimes in Iran.

“Who are you with?” Trump asked pointedly, recognizing the outlet. “Oh, the failed New York Times. Their circulation has plummeted dramatically.”

As Trump attempted to shift to another journalist, Canno-Youngs interjected, citing that the threat could breach international law. Trump, undeterred, continued his remarks.

“Be quiet. The New York Times doesn’t have the credibility it once did,” he told Canno-Youngs. “They claimed, ‘Oh, Trump can’t win the election,’ yet I won in a landslide, every battleground state. Their credibility is gone; they can’t keep up with the present.” He further criticized the reporter, calling journalism from outlets like the Times “fake.”

Trump has warned that he might target Iranian power facilities and bridges unless a resolution is reached with Iran to end ongoing conflicts and reopen the Strait of Hormuz. He remarked that he hopes bombing will be unnecessary, emphasizing his commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.

“Tuesday is Power Plant Day and Bridge Day combined in Iran. There’s no better day than this!!!” Trump remarked in a social media post on Easter Sunday. He added, “Open the straits, or you’ll face dire consequences.”

In a recent development, the U.S. and Israel initiated Operation Epic Fury, a joint military action against Iran. While officials from the U.S. have stated they are negotiating with Iranian representatives to conclude the conflict, Iranian officials have consistently contradicted those claims.
