Trump Announces $250 Million Investment in Nursing Staff During Florida Campaign Stop
During his midterm campaign tour, President Donald Trump promoted a significant investment of $250 million aimed at hiring over 5,000 new nurses for nursing and assisted living facilities throughout the U.S. This announcement was made at a rally in Fort Myers, Florida.
Trump expressed his satisfaction with the investment, emphasizing its focus on Florida. “I’m pleased to announce that the Trump administration is investing $250 million to hire at least 5,000 new nurses in elder care facilities all across America,” he stated.
This declaration follows another recent announcement in which the president introduced an $8 billion aid package for American farmers during a campaign event in Kansas, addressing the rising diesel prices impacting them.
A fact sheet released by the White House on the same day highlighted how the administration has been beneficial to Florida’s seniors. According to the White House, around 4.8 million seniors in Florida are benefiting from a provision in the One Big Beautiful Bill (OBBB) Act that exempts Social Security benefits from federal taxes. This means, more or less, that the average senior in Florida won’t have to pay any federal taxes on their benefits.
While in Florida, Trump also campaigned for U.S. Senator Ashley Moody (R-Fla.) and urged voters to steer clear of Democratic candidate Angie Nixon, whom he labeled a “Marxist maniac.”
“Nixon is a card-carrying member of the Dumocrat Socialists of America,” he elaborated, claiming that the group’s platform calls for extreme measures like abolishing the U.S. Senate and the Supreme Court, and offering free healthcare to illegal immigrants.
Trump questioned, “Why can’t I have a candidate like that to run against?” suggesting he would easily defeat such a polarizing opponent. He joked about an audience member who asserted that he actually did have that candidate.
In another tweet about the rally, an observer stated that Trump had effectively dismantled Nixon’s credibility, framing her proposals as detrimental and out of touch.
He also expressed his support for Representative Byron Donalds (R-Fla.) as a candidate for governor, criticizing his rival David Jolly, a former U.S. Representative, as “a vicious anti-gun radical” intent on restricting gun rights.
“David Jolly has an ‘F’ rating from the NRA,” Trump commented, underscoring Donalds’ strong support for gun rights and the Second Amendment.
At the event, Donalds confidently stated that on November 3rd, Floridians would once again indicate that they would not allow Democrats to regain power in the state.
A White House statement pointed out that Trump and the Republicans are championing lower taxes, private investments, improved rural healthcare, better infrastructure, enhanced veteran support, and safer communities. It presented a clear choice for Floridians: continue with this progress or revert to higher taxes and detrimental policies of the past.
