Trump reveals that his hoarse voice was due to trade conflict

Trump’s Trade Negotiations Reflecting on His Hoarse Voice

President Donald Trump has attributed his hoarse voice to heated discussions with foreign nations as he works to renegotiate trade deals.

During a gathering with the White House task force for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, his voice noticeably faltered. When a reporter inquired, “Are you okay?” Trump responded, “I feel great. I’ve been yelling at people because they’ve been stupid about things that have to do with trade and the country, and I’ve corrected them, but I blew my stack on these people.”

When pressed about which country prompted his outburst, Trump refrained from naming it, simply stating he was unhappy with the situation.

Trump remarked, “One country wanted to renegotiate the terms of a trade agreement. And I wasn’t happy with it.” Again, when the country’s name was requested, he replied, “Why would I tell you that?”

Recent months have seen the United States engage in trade discussions with various nations, including Japan, Cambodia, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Trump also met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in South Korea last October to discuss related matters.

In particular, Trump noted that China had agreed to reduce tariffs on imports by 10%, bringing the tax rate down from 57% to 47% in connection with efforts to combat the fentanyl crisis.

Additionally, he mentioned he does not plan to enforce a scheduled 100% tariff on certain Chinese goods starting November 1st. After China announced export controls on rare earth magnets, Trump threatened to raise tariffs significantly, but China agreed to postpone these controls by a year.

Later, Trump indicated that a more extensive trade agreement with China would be finalized soon, expressing great optimism. “On a scale of zero to 10, 10 being the best, I would say this meeting was a 12,” he shared with reporters post-meeting. “Many decisions have been made and conclusions have been reached on so many important points.”
