Trump Reveals 'Two Beautiful' Flagpoles on the White House Grounds

Trump Announces New Flagpoles at the White House

On Tuesday, Donald Trump shared news that he plans to install “two beautiful” flagpoles on the north and south lawns of the White House. He made the announcement through his social media account, referring to the flagpoles as a “gift” from himself.

“I’m excited to say that we will be setting up two beautiful flagpoles on either side of the White House lawn,” he wrote. “This is a gift from me, something I’ve always felt was missing from this amazing place.”

He mentioned that the installation process will kick off the next morning at 7:30 AM ET, with the flags expected to be raised at 11 AM ET. “These poles are really something special,” he noted. “They’re tall, tapered, rust-proof, and have a rope inside, made of top-quality materials.”

Back in April, Trump had claimed that he would personally finance the flagpoles as gifts to the White House.

“They’ve needed flagpoles for 200 years,” he said at that time. “I often wondered why they didn’t have one.”

According to reports, the White House already has a flagpole on the roof that displays the American flag around the clock. Since 2019, the POW/MIA flag has also been flying there. As for the President’s own flag, which features an eagle on a dark blue background, it won’t be flown over the White House, although he retains the right to display it within the premises.

The timing of this announcement comes just after Flag Day, a day historically used by some of Trump’s critics to protest against his administration.

As noted by the National Constitution Center, Flag Day was first celebrated in the late 1800s by educators across the U.S., and in May 1916, President Woodrow Wilson declared June 14th as Flag Day lasting forever.
