Washington:
US President Donald Trump said Friday he would revoke Joe Biden's security clearance and end the rights of his predecessors to receive intelligence briefings after he took office.
“Joe Biden doesn't need to receive access to classified information,” Trump said on his Truth Social Network.
“So we're quickly revoking Joe Biden's security clearance and stopping his daily intelligence briefing.”
Trump added, “Joe, you've been fired,” in a reference to his previous catchphrase on reality television show The Apprentice.
US presidents are traditionally entitled to receive intelligence briefings, even after resignation.
Trump said he's on the move as Democrat Biden removed his own security clearance after winning the 2020 election.
Biden at the time cited Trump's “unsteady behavior” before and after the January 6, 2021 attack on the U.S. Capitol by protesters trying to overturn Trump's election losses.
In his post Friday, Trump discovered that a special advisor's report on confidential documents found at a Democrat's home found that 82-year-old Biden suffered from “poor memories,” causing Biden to brief the intelligence news briefing. He claimed that he “can't trust it.”
Trump was also charged with misunderstanding the classified documents, but the Justice Department ended the lawsuit after Republicans won the 2024 election.
