Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) and Ambassador Robert O’Brien said in a joint statement:
As the events unfolding in Pennsylvania today demonstrate, we must de-escalate political tensions. I order President Biden to immediately drop the federal criminal charges against President Trump, and I call on the Governors of New York and Georgia to do the same. Such action will help heal wounds and allow all Americans to take a deep breath and reflect on how we got to this situation. We pray for the victims of this shooting, President Trump, and our country.

Trump I have written In a statement after the incident, he said he had been shot.
I would like to thank the U.S. Secret Service and all of the law enforcement agencies who responded quickly to the shooting that occurred in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most of all, I would like to express my condolences to the family of the person who died at the rally and the family of the other person who was seriously injured. It is hard to believe that something like this could happen in our country. At this time, we do not know anything about the person who shot him. He is now deceased. I was shot by a bullet above my right ear. I knew right away that something was wrong as I heard a whoosh and a gunshot and felt the bullet penetrate my skin.
He added: “That’s when I realized what was going on because there was a lot of bleeding. God bless America!”
