Trump says he has agreed to 3 debates in September

Former President Trump, speaking at a press conference at his Mar-a-Lago resort on Thursday, said he and his new opponent, Vice President Harris, have agreed to do three separate debates on three different networks.

“I think that Harris is a very strong candidate for the presidency, and she is a very strong candidate for the presidency,” Biden said in a statement.

However, in a statement released during Trump’s press conference, ABC said both Trump and Harris had agreed to hold the debate on September 10.

The former president also said Thursday that he has proposed a debate with Fox News on Sept. 4 and NBC on Sept. 25.

“We’ve spoken with the network heads and everything is confirmed except for a few very minor details, including whether the Harris campaign will agree to any of these dates,” Trump said.

“I’m looking forward to the debate because I think we need to get our facts straight,” Trump said.

The Harris campaign did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The former president accepted a hosting position on the ABC network after filing his lawsuit, but cited the ongoing lawsuit against ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos as a reason for not attending the ABC event.

Harris’ team criticized Trump for declining to appear on ABC News for the debate, saying the vice president would use the time to appear on the network whether he took part or not.

Trump has become increasingly cautious about debating Harris in recent weeks, initially saying he would “absolutely” face her before later saying there were possible reasons not to.
