Former President Trump said Friday he plans to return to Butler, Pennsylvania for another campaign rally after a planned rally there earlier this month was canceled after an assassination attempt left one attendee dead.
“I will be returning to Butler, Pennsylvania for a big, amazing rally to honor the spirit of our beloved firefighter hero Corey and the brave patriots who were wounded two weeks ago. It will be a great day. Fight, fight, fight! Stay tuned for more details,” Trump wrote.
It’s unclear when or where the rally will take place. The Secret Service, which has been monitoring Butler’s rally, has notified Trump and his team. Opposed to holding outdoor gatherings Following the shooting.
President Trump held an outdoor rally in Butler on July 13. He was on stage only briefly before shots rang out.
Former Fire Chief Corey Comperatore was killed in the shooting, and an online fundraiser run by President Trump and his supporters to honor him and two others wounded in the shooting has raised more than $6 million.
The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, also died.
Trump came off the stage with a gunshot wound and blood coming from his ear, pumping his fist and yelling “Fight!” to the crowd as he was escorted away by Secret Service agents.
Trump has held several campaign rallies since the shooting, including in Michigan and North Carolina. He is scheduled to campaign in Minnesota on Saturday and in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, next week. Since the Butler rally, Trump has worn a bandage over the gunshot wound in his ear at every public appearance.
