Trump says he’s ‘more of a believer’ in God after surviving shooting

Donald Trump said he “started to believe in God” after surviving an assassination attempt last month, calling it a “miracle” that only the bullet hit his ear.

“It hit me at a less destructive angle than any other angle,” the 78-year-old former president told Elon Musk during an X Livestream conversation.

“So it was a miracle. It was for people who don’t believe in God. I think we all have to start thinking about that,” the Republican presidential candidate said.

“I’m a believer. I think I’m even more of a believer now. A lot of people have told me that. In fact, a lot of great people have told me that. But it was a surprise that I just happened to bend at the perfect angle.”

The suspect who attempted to assassinate President Trump, Thomas Matthew Crooks (20), was shot and killed by Secret Service agents after wounding two protesters and killing another at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania on July 13.

“How many people were killed?” Trump asked, saying he expected more than one person to be killed in the shooting, and praised the lack of stampede among attendees after the shocking attack.
