Former President Trump told a crowd in Asheville, North Carolina, on Wednesday that new categories of crimes involving immigrants have emerged under the Biden-Harris administration and are “out of control.”
The Republican presidential nominee was expected to push his economic case against Vice President Kamala Harris at a campaign event at Harrah’s Cherokee Center’s Thomas Wolf Auditorium, marking Trump’s second visit to a key Southeast battleground state in the 3 1/2 weeks since Harris replaced Biden as the front-runner for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination.
While Trump spoke about how inflation under Harris has cost the average family $28,000 and caused credit card debt to soar to an all-time high, he also made sure to turn the conversation to the issues of the border and illegal immigration.

Former President Trump told a crowd in Asheville, North Carolina, that the Biden-Harris administration has created a new, “out-of-control” crime he calls “immigrant crime.”
President Trump said no country could tolerate the current influx of millions of “illegal immigrants” from unknown countries into the United States.
“Everybody told me I was wrong when I said immigrant crime would reach epidemic proportions, but now it’s much worse than that,” Trump said. “It’s much worse than an epidemic. It’s out of control. There’s a new category of crime now. It’s called immigrant crime, and I think it’s going to be the worst category.”

According to the New York Post, Daniel Davon Bonilla, 24, had been active on the streets since June before being arrested late Sunday night in Coney Island for the alleged attack. New York is a sanctuary city, meaning local law enforcement agencies typically do not cooperate with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detention orders, which require immigration authorities to notify them before they are released from custody and hold them until they can be taken into custody.
