President Trump claims that Ukraine has “essentially agreed” to give the US $5 trillion worth of rare earth minerals as a payment for the military aid that Washington provided Kiev.
“They have very valuable land in terms of rare earth [minerals]from an oil and gas perspective, and from another perspective. We're spending hundreds of millions of dollars, so we want to secure our money [in Ukraine]Trump told Fox News' Special Report host Brett Baier in a tape-taped interview ahead of Sunday's Super Bowl.

Ukrainian President Voldymir Zelensky on Friday expressed support for mutual resource transactions with the United States in exchange for security guarantees as part of a potential peace settlement.

Ukraine has around 5% of the world's mineral resources, with a wealth of titanium, uranium, iron, manganese and lithium, as well as rare earth minerals that are considered essential for US national security.
“I think that's what happens,” Trump said of the peace deal between Ukraine and Russia.
“I think we made a lot of progress last week. We're dealing with Russians. We're dealing with Ukrainians. I think there's something,” the president insisted.
