Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) said Friday on MSNBC's “All In” that President-elect Donald Trump's second term will be aimed at Tesla CEO Elon Musk and “oligarchs” serving the “billionaire class.” He argued that it would become a “regulatory system.”
“We're in the minority in the House and Senate,” Murphy said. “We don't have a White House, so our job is to understand what's going on and how the billionaire and corporate class control the U.S. government.” It's about making sure everyone understands that it's a massive takeover, and we're becoming an oligarchy as we speak.”
He added, “Mr. Musk is trying to get closer to the White House because he's made billions from government policy. He's made a ton of money from manufacturing in China, so I think he's going to continue to make a lot of money.” We needed to manage our relationship with China so we could continue to make money, and it would come through the federal government. Car subsidies and rocket subsidies were big for him. He stole from ordinary Americans to turn billionaires into millionaires. He stole from our benefits, from our children's education, from our grandparents. A perfect example of the many oligarchs, billionaires, and corporations surrounding Trump to reduce health care costs. ”
Murphy added: “Musk is well known for his work on what is fundamentally wrong with the Trump administration and how it's leading to oligarchy, kleptocracy, whatever you want to call it. “This is a perfect example for the American people.” It simply serves the billionaire class. ”
