Trump seizes on drone controversy to mock Chris Christie

President-elect Trump on Saturday took advantage of the mysterious drone controversy in New Jersey to mock his former ally turned nemesis Chris Christie.

The president-elect, who will be in office in just over a month, shared a synthetically generated meme of the former New Jersey governor eating McDonald's and said the governor is increasingly delivering McDonald's meals by drone. He mocked the emphasis on Truth Social and X.

Christie supported Trump in 2016 but was later fired as head of the transition team.

Mr. Christie, who briefly campaigned for the 2024 presidential election last year and called Mr. Trump a “coward” and “Putin's puppet,” resigned in January.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy and law enforcement officials said the drones do not appear to pose a threat to public safety.

“Mysterious drone sightings are occurring all over the country. Are these things really happening without the government's knowledge?” he wrote on Truth Social. “I don't think so! Tell the world now or shoot it down!!!”
