Trump Selects Opponent for 'Weak and Pathetic RINO' Thomas Massie: 'Run, Ed, Run'

Trump Backs Challenge to Rep. Massie

President Donald Trump has frequently expressed his desire to oust Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.), and it seems he has found a candidate to take on that challenge.

Trump has encouraged former Navy SEAL Ed Gallein to enter the race against Massie in the upcoming primary, assuring him of his “full and complete support” if he decides to run.

In a recent post on Truth Social, the president criticized Massie, who often sides with Democrats, for not supporting his legislative agenda.

He described Massie as a “third-class Congressman” and suggested that Kentucky’s 4th Congressional District deserves better representation. According to Trump, Gallein, who is a veteran, farmer, and patriotic American, would be the right person to lead that charge.

Trump praised Gallein’s qualifications and experience, emphasizing his commitment to national security, veteran support, and promoting American jobs and agriculture. He expressed confidence that Gallein would advocate for strong borders and defend the Second Amendment, which he claims is frequently under threat.

Trump seems eager for Gallein to join the race. He pointed out that Massie currently has an approval rating of just about 9%, indicating that many in Kentucky have grown disillusioned with him. Trump further criticized Massie as ineffective and expressed strong support for Gallein, urging him to run.

Following the president’s endorsement, Gallein hinted that an announcement about his candidacy would be coming soon. He stated his gratitude for Trump’s backing and reaffirmed his commitment to issues such as border security and tax reduction.

Meanwhile, Massie is making use of this moment to fundraise, stating to his supporters that Trump’s endorsement of a challenger could be a turning point in the race, while seeking contributions to bolster his campaign.

For some time now, a super PAC aligned with Trump has been airing attack ads aimed at Massie.

The Kentucky Republican primary is scheduled for May 19, 2026.
