Trump Celebrates Cracker Barrel Logo Controversy
Donald Trump has taken a moment to celebrate in the ongoing Culture War, this time in connection with Cracker Barrel.
On Thursday, he shared a 33-second AI-generated video on X, showcasing himself digitally inserted into the classic Cracker Barrel logo.
Accompanied by the Village People’s 1970s “YMCA,” the video features animated Trump avatars in suits waving alongside an old figure known as “Uncle Herschel” in front of the iconic orange and brown logo.
In one scene, Trump’s figure shifts entirely, leaning against a barrel while clapping and laughing.
There’s a moment where he adopts a serious expression, almost as if asserting control, before sharing a laugh with the old character—both dressed alike—right in front of the sign.
This Cracker Barrel video is part of a series of AI-generated clips shared by Trump, which also includes a humorous take on Illinois Governor JB Pritzker and former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie engaged in a SUMO wrestling match.
The surreal montage comes just weeks after Cracker Barrel found itself at the center of a political controversy.
The Tennessee-based chain recently unveiled a redesign of its logo on August 19, removing the familiar imagery of old timers by the barrel.
Executives described this decision as modernization, but the backlash was swift. Conservative commentators and patrons alike accused the company of “erasing history” and giving in to trends.
After a significant drop of over 12% in stock price, the company reversed course and reinstated its original logo.
Trump took to social media, urging the chain to “go back to the old logo” and listen to what he called the “ultimate poll” reflecting customer opinions.
He later commended the company’s decision to restore the logo, stating, “All the fans are very grateful. They make a lot of money and, most importantly, they’re making our customers happy again!”
The White House shared that Cracker Barrel thanked Trump personally for his influence on this decision.
While the company’s stock has since rebounded, this incident highlights how corporate branding decisions can intertwine with political narratives, especially when supported by high-profile individuals.
The character associated with the Cracker Barrel logo, known as Uncle Herschel or simply “old timer,” was inspired by Herschel McCartney, the real-life uncle of the chain’s founder, Dan Evins, dating back to 1977.
Fans and media often use the names Uncle Herschel and Old Timer interchangeably to refer to the iconic logo figures.
The Cracker Barrel has yet to comment on this latest development.
