Trump shares the encounter when US forces confronted Venezuela's Maduro

Trump Discusses Maduro’s Capture in Exclusive Interview

In a conversation with “Fox & Friends Weekend,” former President Donald Trump disclosed details about the recent capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. He described Maduro’s location as a “fortress”-like home, where American special forces quickly intervened.

Trump recounted watching the complex operation unfold from his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida, stating that troops were ready to act earlier in the week but had to delay due to weather conditions. “We were ready to go for four days,” he said, emphasizing the significant preparations involved. The mission only moved forward when the situation allowed.

According to Trump, Maduro’s residence was heavily fortified, with a steel door and a so-called safe space. “He was in a house that was more like a fortress,” Trump elaborated. He noted that Maduro was in such a rush to escape that he couldn’t access his secure area, despite U.S. forces being prepared with tools to breach the defenses if necessary.

A U.S. official informed Fox News that Delta Force was responsible for Maduro’s physical capture, aided by CIA intelligence that tracked his movements. Trump mentioned how the military had rehearsed the operation by constructing a replica of the target house, complete with a secure area and ample steel re-enforcements.

He assured that no American soldiers were lost during this operation, mentioning, “A few people were hit, but they’re back. They should be in pretty good shape.”

Trump indicated that both Maduro and his wife were transported by helicopter to Iwo Jima and are expected to face charges, including drug-terrorism conspiracy, in New York.

When asked about Venezuela’s future with Maduro no longer in power, Trump remarked, “We’re making that decision right now.” He expressed a desire to engage with Venezuela’s transition, aiming for a positive relationship and freedom for the people, asserting that the Venezuelan public is likely pleased, having been oppressed under a dictatorship.

Lastly, Trump asserted that ongoing U.S. military actions in Venezuela are crucial for saving lives amid rampant drug trafficking issues.
