Trump shooter made chilling Google search on day he registered for Butler rally

Thomas Matthew Crooks Googled the assassination of President John F. Kennedy on the day he registered for a rally for former President Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

FBI Director Christopher Wray revealed the details in testimony before the House Judiciary Committee on Wednesday.

“Around July 6th [Crooks] “There is a great deal of attention being paid to former President Trump and this rally,” Wray told lawmakers.

“One of the things I can share with you today, which has not yet been made public, is that in the last few days, investigators have uncovered a laptop analysis that links it to the shooter. [which] “On July 6th, it emerged that he had Googled ‘how far was Oswald from Kennedy?'” a search that is clearly significant to his mental state, he added.

“That’s the same day he registered for the Butler rally,” Ray revealed.

Wray’s testimony was the third in two days at a congressional hearing about the investigation into the assassination attempt on President Trump.

Former Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle testified before the House Oversight Committee on Monday and resigned shortly thereafter. The House Homeland Security Committee heard testimony from the Pennsylvania State Police on Tuesday, followed by Wray’s hearing on Wednesday.

Several lawmakers traveled to Butler earlier this week to see the scene firsthand. Republican Rep. Carlos Gimenez of Florida filmed himself on Monday climbing onto the roof where Crooks fired at Trump, and expressed surprise that the roof was not guarded by the Secret Service.

“So what really bothers me, and the reason I went up on the roof — I’m 70 years old — is the director said, ‘The roof is too steep, a Secret Service agent can’t get up on it,’ and that was the final straw for me,” he said.

“I could run around on that roof all day,” Jiminez added.

Cheatle previously said that a “sloping roof” would prevent Secret Service agents from being stationed inside the building.
