Trump shooter made Home Depot visit prior to assassination attempt: report

The 20-year-old would-be assassin who shot former President Trump in Pennsylvania over the weekend was found holding a receipt for a Home Depot ladder, sources say. He told NBC News.

Agents found the items among the belongings of Thomas Matthew Crooks, who was shot and killed by a Secret Service agent on Saturday.

Authorities are now investigating whether Crooks used a ladder to climb to the roof of a building and yelled the abuse within earshot of Trump, sources told the outlet.

Fox News Digital reached out to Home Depot, which referred questions to law enforcement.

More than a dozen firearms were found inside the Crooks home, and the gunman’s father called police after the shooting to report that an AR rifle was missing.

The rifle used in the shooting was purchased legally and may have belonged to the gunman’s father.

Police officials are also investigating whether the bullets were purchased at Allegheny Arms and Gun Works in Bethel Park.

The store is just a short drive from the Crooks’ home.

Several videos show rally attendees alerting local police to Crooks’ presence on top of the building before the shooting.

Authorities say Crooks acted alone in the plot to assassinate Trump, but the investigation is ongoing.

Few details have been released about Crooks’ background or motives, but local residents say he was relentlessly bullied in high school and had always been a loner.

His classmates described him as a conservative, but noted that he was never vocal about his political views.

Crooks was a registered Republican, but in 2021 he appears to have donated $15 to the Progressive Turnout Project.

According to reports, Crooks, who belonged to a shooting club, would often wear hunting clothes to school and was teased for it.

Former Buffalo Township Fire Chief Corey Comperatore, 50, was shot and killed by Crooks during the rally.
